Was losing early and could never have bet Thomas Shelby who killed my Pick 5. However, I hit the 11th and 12th race double as well as exactas in both races to show a profit of $150 for the day.
Ridiculous card for the final day. Way too many maiden races, so take it easy, at least until the later races.

Had a bad day on Friday although it wasn't unexpected given the card. Everything went wrong. Lost $275. But yesterday, hit the late Pick 5 for $360 and had a $30 win bet on Max Player, the only real 10f horse in the race. Sorry I didn't post yesterday as I was busy all morning. The moral of the story is to do your own handicapping and don't listen to the TV personalities except for information. They completely dismissed Max Player who won in the slop against Happy Saver, and the big favorite in the 1 hole had never been 10f. We know that the jump to 10f is major given our Derby analysis.
Today's card is difficult at best. There is no competition greater than at Saratoga.

Winning more than losing lately, but very uneven. Lost two or three disqualifications as well.
Today's card is ridiculous before scratches and changes although on the turf as planned. Loaded with maiden races and extremely difficult so take it easy. Very tough time separating contenders.

Hit the Pick 5 below twice for $74 each. Four of five first choices won, with the other being a second choice. Hit an exacta, pick 3 and a good double. Made $270.
Essential Quality is the goods!
Had another good day with the last Doghouse on Wednesday with 5 first choices winning out of nine races and seven winners overall. Made only $200!
Looks like Essential Quality will continue to roll in the Travers. Pletcher is very high on his horse, Dynamic One.

If you were paying attention, I said to tread lightly today because I haven't been doing well along with the variable weather.
Had all nine winners on the Doghouse, with 7 A horses and 2 B horses. Five of the A's were first choice.
Yes, there were short fields and many favorites, but you have to take what they give you. Hit a big double, big pick 3, early pick 5, and missed the pick 6 by one horse. Made over $500 for the best day of the meet by far!
Just posted today's Doghouse after scratches and off the turf races.
Please tread lightly as I have not been winning with any frequency. Add the weather and track conditions, and you may have a very trying day.

I have posted the Doghouse for the later races, starting with Race 6. Very difficult card as usual.
Note: Luis Saez and his agent, former trainer Kieran McLaughlin, are tearing up Saratoga. Look for horses that Saez leaves for another in the same race. Saez can't win them all, but he is getting his choice of horses likely handicapped by McLaughlin. Watch out!

Thanks for the kudos for the Belmont Stakes. We hit both the safe bet and my bets with the only two horses that I thought would compete.
So far at Saratoga, I have not done very well at all. Had many winners but couldn't hit the Pick 4's and 5's. Add the rain and the meet to date has been a mess. I have been reluctant to post.
However, I think I'm turning the corner starting tomorrow, and the weather is finally turning warm and dry for the next week or so.

Looks to me that 2 Essential Quality will run over this bunch. Primed for this given his bad trip being wide and starting his run too early. Could even lead from start to finish.
Only threat for me is 4 Hot Rod Charlie. Good race in the Derby and Flavin Prat moves from the Preakness winner 3 Rombauer back to Hot Rod Charlie. Distance may be a problem, but you can say that about everyone in the race.
Safe bet: $5 exacta box 2-4 or $10 to win on 2
My bet: $30 exacta 2-4: $20 exacta 4-2

First, a word on the Kentucky Derby. Medina Spirit didn't meet my numbers, so he was a throwout. Couldn't see him winning given that there was so much other speed in the race: Hot Dog Charlie, Rock Your World, Midnight Bourbon, etc. There is no way that a horse can go on the front end in the Derby unless he is a superior horse, with little competition on the front end, like War Emblem. In the Santa Anita Derby, Rock Your World went to the front for his first race on dirt and won with Medina Spirit some 4.5 lengths behind. Apparently, Medina Spirit was surprised by Rock Your World and didn't chase, leading to a slow final time which resulted in not meeting my numbers. In the Derby, Medina Spirit surprised everyone, including Baffert, and was in the right place at the right time. Rock Your World bumped with Midnight Bayou at the start, so they couldn't go to the front to challenge him. Hot Dog Charlie took back. So Medina Spirit was on the front end essentially unchallenged for the lead. Add that the favorite, Essential Quality was wide on both turns (Saez could have moved him to the rail on the second turn). Saez also started his run too early, the result being that Essential Quality, the best horse in the race, traveled about 7 lengths more than the winner while losing by less than two! So Medina Spirit, with the best jockey in the world in Johnny V. on the front end, should never have won, the drug issue aside.
In the Preakness, it appears that these horses are a really mediocre bunch. I'm not thrilled about anyone. If you watched the races on Friday, the inside of the track is very good, and Medina Spirit in post 3 is only being helped by the track. Baffert replaces (?) Rosario on Concert Tour with Mike Smith. Irad Ortiz is now on the wise guy horse, Midnight Bourbon, who had trouble at the start but still finished 8 lengths behind Medina Spirit. Both Chad Brown's horses, Crowded Trade and Risk Taking, have a chance but don't appear to be anything special. Then we have Rosario on the Japanese horse, Fran Go de Ina, that he has ridden before in Dubai unsuccessfully. Pletcher's horse, Unbridled Honor, is stretching from 8.5 furlongs to 9.5 furlongs in the Preakness.
Honestly, I'm sad to say that it looks like the two Baffert horses hold the keys to the race. I'm favoring Concert Tour even though he is on the outside, not the place to be. So I will bet Concert Tour and Medina Spirit over Crowded Trade and Midnight Bourbon in exactas. Don't know exactly how.

But I do have some longshots in the exacta.
