Late Pick 4 Posted for Saturday's Breeder's Cup

Just posted the late Pick 4, betting against the Euros and leaning toward speed, NY horses, and Santa Anita horses for courses. Really like 2 Haveyougoneaway in the 10th. Won two at Saratoga and looks to be in the right spot. Tough to go against California Chrome, but Arrogate may be the new Secretariat. Bet both in the Pick 4.

Notes on Friday's Breeder's Cup Races

Didn't win a Breeder's Cup race (although uncharacteristically very conservative) and fell short of the Pick 4 when Dortmund didn't run his race. Had the other three. Coincidentally, I bet an exacta with the winner and Dortmund, but didn't include him on the ticket. Can't bet them all. I did hit an exacta on an earlier race and never looked at the exacta payoffs on Beholder which were very generous. Didn't bet the race figuring the prices would be too short.

As I suspected, the track (both dirt and especially the turf) is too hard for the Europeans. I will throw them all out with the exception of Found who I really don't like in the mile and one-half turf race, but he has won over $7 million. Some really good horses aren't going to win because of the turf feeling like the Thruway. They won't be able to make up a lot of ground in the stretch.

On Saturday, bet the front runners or close to the front on both dirt and turf and lean toward the Saratoga and Santa Anita horses.Don't know if I will post the late Pick 4 yet. Have way too many horses. Good luck!

Breeder's Cup Pick 4 Posted for Friday, November 4

It is difficult to pick any winner of any Breeder's Cup race. So I'm trying to pick four in a row.

Just posted the Pick 4 starting with Race 6 for Friday night. Singling Dortmund in the dirt mile. Songbird is no cinch against Stellar Wind and Beholder, so all are included as A's in the last leg (9th).

Go to the red Doghouse Confidential button on the Meet Mr. X page.

Races are ridiculously difficult, especially with the foreign horses that I thought weren't coming. Stick to the Saratoga horses and the Santa Anita horses that love that course, both dirt and turf.

Don't know if I will post any picks for Saturday, but I'll try.

Good luck!

Labor Day Results

Had many winners, particularly triples, on the Doghouse Confidential. For some reason, I was conservative, and it cost me a very good triple in the second race.

Here are my results for the day:

hit the early pick 5 singling two horses, hit the late pick 4 and pick 3, and hit two triples.

Plus for the day: $65! Yikes!

Remember you need to bet right! About even for the meet, so I'll take it.

Hope everyone cashed more than I did and came home with some money.

Correction on the Fifth Race

Unfortunately, I made an error. The 10 horse in the fifth race should be changed to the 11 horse.

Also, I forgot to detail the Grand Slam starting in the 7th race:

Grand Slam: 4-5-2-4/6

Good luck!

Labor Day Doghouse Posted (Abbreviated) September 5, 2016

Hit a good triple and exacta early yesterday and barely left as a winner for the day.

All of the name jocks won yesterday, and I presume that they will repeat today. But look out for some longshots. Picks are really spread out looking for hitting some triples.

About even for the meet going into the final day. Would be nice to leave a big winner. I will be putting in an early Pick 5 singling Gambler's Ghost in the first along with everyone else.

As always, go to the Meet Mr. X page and click on the red Doghouse Confidential button.

Good luck and good-bye to Saratoga. A sad day.

Sunday Doghouse Confidential Posted (Abbreviated)

Had my worst day of the meet yesterday. Nothing went right. Even Frosted lost on a bad ride. Jose Ortiz won everything.

Today is just as difficult. Lean towards the best jockeys and Pletcher and Brown.

Woodward Doghouse Posted (Abbreviated) for September 3, 2016

For those of you paying attention, the Wednesday Doghouse gave you the $3522 early Pick 4 and the Grand Slam among other hits. Yesterday, I hit both Pick 4's and the Grand Slam. About even for the meet with three days to go.

Watch for the scratches today. Will be putting in a late Pick 5 singling Frosted.

As usual, go the Meet Mr. X page and click on the red Doghouse Confidential button.

Great weather and good luck!

Abbreviated Doghouse Confidential Posted for Sunday, August 28, 2016

Posted an abbreviated Doghouse with my horse ratings. I will likely bet the Pick 5 singling Monster Mash in the first race. Grand Slam is best bet on the track for value. Of course, watch out for scratches.

Did not bet Arrogate and would never have bet a horse that had not run 9f  before in a 10f race. Bet the closers and the horses that met my criteria in the Derby. Most of them are still running. I knew I was in trouble when all of the speed horses were winning in the earlier races. Track record by Arrogate was helped by the souped up track for Travers Day.

Good luck!

Kentucky Derby 2016 Doghouse Confidential Posted

Always the most difficult race of the year. Having the best horse doesn't mean you will win. It is all about trips.

Let's hope 6 My Man Sam hits the exacta!

As usual, go to the Meet Mr. X page and click on the red Doghouse Confidential button.

Weather will be great so no excuses there.

Good luck!

Correction: Destin

I had Destin as a qualifier in the top group. However, his figure was earned at 8.5f, and he has never raced 9f. Therefore, he should be in the "maybe" group on his figures. However, I will not bet a horse that never raced at 9f before the 10f Derby. To me, he is a throwout.

Kentucky Derby Categorized Contenders Posted

Just posted the horses categorized by their energy distribution and last three furlong times as I have done in previous years.

I will post a Derby Doghouse either late Friday or on Saturday morning.

Bob, I hope you made it to the Derby with your family. Have a great birthday and a profitable weekend!
