Belmont Stakes Revisited

Well, we were right about Charitable Man not being able to handle the distance. And we were right about Dunkirk holding off Mine That Bird as he did in the stretch. Thought we were going to cash big in the middle of the stretch.

Then Summer Bird came on the outside and ran down our three selections. We did include Summer Bird in our triples for second and third, but I had no confidence that he could win. Remember that this horse's only win was his maiden in early March. Quite a bit of progress in a few months.

So the bottom line is that we were mostly right, but that doesn't mean we cashed, unfortunately. The good news is that we have a diverse group of three year olds, and we are likely to see some of these at Saratoga.

Speaking of the Holy Land, Saratoga is only a day and a week away. Mr. X is studying diligently to be ready for Opening Day. I will post a Doghouse for Wednesday, July 29 and likely on Friday, July 31.

Let's have a great Spa season. No place better on earth!

Mr. X
