Breeder's Cup Classic Analysis Posted

I have posted my Breeder's Cup analysis for the Classic. Handicapped for wet. A very tough race, but we'll try to make some money.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to handicap the rest of the races because of other commitments. Remember that you only need one or two winners to make money for the day, so don't go crazy.

Good luck! Go Sox!

Aunt Kitty to Throw Out First Ball at Red Sox Game

Katherine (Kitty) Dooley, a member of the Royal Rooters of the Boston Red Sox, will throw out the first ball on Sunday in the Red Sox last game of the season. Aunt Kitty, who is the great aunt of my son-in-law Bill, is in her nineties and is among the most famous Red Sox fans along with her sister, Libby, who is deceased.

The Royal Rooters is the original fan club of the Red Sox going back one hundred years.

Libby is featured in the new DVD of "Rooters: The Birth of Red Sox Nation" to be released in early October.

Go Red Sox! Go Aunt Kitty!

Saturday Doghouse Posted

Saturday's Doghouse has been posted. Very bad card for a stakes day. Too many maidens and turf sprints.

The Spot Play on Friday was horrendous. Sorry. One of the horses was acting up in the gate, and the assistant starter must have done something to warrant a mention in the charts. Nevertheless, the race was a bunch of dogs, and I fell for it.

Still down for the meet. Hitting some but not enough.

Good luck!

Friday Spot Play

In the first race, the two favorites look to be much better than the rest of the field. My numbers say that both have the best lead times, closing times, and final times.

4 Smokin Sarah looks much the best time wise. What I don't like is that the horse hasn't had a work since her last race on August 9. While not unusual for cheap horses, I like to see a work before the race. Also, her trainer is one for twenty-three here. 6 Seventeen Love is an improving filly that could easily win. Has a work since last and trainer doing very well.

Will be short prices. Exacta box 4-6.

Wednesday's spot play lost all chance when the jock dueled with others and ran ridiculous early fractions.

Wednesday Spot Play

The 7th race is going to be tough. My numbers say that 5 Moon's Halo is ready to roll for Rick Violette and the West Point bunch. The horse was beaten by others but improved dramatically with blinkers in last.

I think he has a good shot stepping back from a mile. I will bet him to win.

The other interesting horse is 2 Court Folly who won big at this distance last year. He is 2nd off a layoff and will close with Calvin Borel.

Win bet on 5. Exacta box 2-5. Good luck.

Saturday for Next Doghouse

Went to the track today even though not fully recovered.

Hit the last race triple for half of $1033 thanks in part to Andy Serling on the DRF Seminar.

Had a good feel for the dirt races for a change.

Will post spot plays for the rest of the meet if I find something worth a bet.

Saturday may be my last trip for the meet, so I will likely post a Doghouse.

I have posted the Doghouse for the four stakes races for today. Hopefully, the rains hold off.

Still looking for a breakout day. Maybe today.

As always, go to Meet Mr. X and click on the Doghouse Confidential or go to the Racing Calendar.

Good luck today. Let's hope everyone comes home safe.

Will Not Post Doghouse for Friday

Mr. X is under the weather and will not be able to attend Minerals Day at the track.

I will not be able to post a card either for Friday, but I plan on posting the four stakes races on Saturday, Travers Day.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but I probably saved you some money. Did not do well on Wednesday, so I'll have to begin my comeback again.

Wednesday's Doghouse Posted

Another bad card with too many maidens.

At least the weather is good.

Mr. X is down but not out. I begin my comeback on Wednesday.

Good luck to all!

Wednesday and Friday Doghouse to be Posted

Not doing well. Many winners but no exactas. Close to some big hits on last Saturday, but close doesn't count. Did hit the Alabama with Lady Joanne and Lear's Princess exacta to break even on the day after losing big on Friday and losing less big on Sunday.

As an excuse, the cards have been very bad with way too many maiden races. Wednesday's card isn't any better.

Doghouse Posted for Friday

Very bad card. Too many maidens.

The later races are better so take it easy. Grand Slam looks like a good bet today.

Good luck!

Been going up and down all last weekend.

Need to hit a good one.

Saturday Doghouse Posted

Had a good day yesterday with the weather clearing up later in the day. Hit both exactas on the Doghouse ($17.20 and $42.40) plus the Grand Slam. Now heating up and ready to move to positive territory.

Posted a Doghouse for today which I didn't think that I would do. Later races are better.

Good luck!

Friday Doghouse Posted

Today is a day that you should keep your money in your pocket. Except that I am a slow learner.

Handicapped for wet, although I have not had good luck on a sealed track. We'll see if all the races are taken off the turf.

Check it out at Meet Mr. X, Doghouse Confidential, or on the Racing Calendar.

Good luck and take it easy today. Very easy.

Friday Doghouse to be Posted

Looks like wet, rainy, and cool for Friday.

We will try again to move in the profitable direction. Broke even on Sunday with two good exactas and the Haskell exacta of Any Given Saturday over Hard Spun. Hit a couple during the week, so we are making progress.

I will post sometime before 10 am on Friday, August 10.

Good Karma Doghouse Posted

Forget the reference to Stella. I didn't know the story.

Now for Earl Hickey. Took the day off yesterday and picked two races at the pool. Hit the first one (exacta $152) five times. Then hit the triple in the feature for Mrs. X (1/2 of $750), who will be eternally grateful (for the track season). The karma is changing from bad to good.

Let's see how we do today. Not a bad card and beautiful weather.

As always, click on the Doghouse Confidential at Meet Mr. X or go to the Racing Calendar.

Good luck and good karma!

Doghouse to be posted for Sunday, August 5

The yelping sound you hear is the flogging Mr. X is absorbing at the track.

Not doing well at all. Bad picks, bad rides, stumbling at the break: the whole catastrophe.

We'll try again tomorrow.

Doghouse to be Posted for Friday

Mr. X will post a Doghouse by noon on Friday. Remember that first post is at 2:45 pm for the twilight racing card.

In the interest of full disclosure, Mr. X is 0-7 to date. So take that into account in your wagering.

On Wednesday, I handicapped the dirt races for speed from the rail which was the exact opposite of how the track was playing. Speed inside was not good and not holding. The outside paths and the closers were much the best.

The Holy Days Are Near!

The greatest racing in the world begins on Wednesday, July 25, with the opening of the Saratoga Race Course.

Mr. X will post a Doghouse Confidential on the days that I go to the track and on days where I handicap a number of races and bet from home.

The only way to keep apprised of when a Doghouse will be available is to check the Blog here; there will be an announcement. The Doghouse is available by 10 am on the day of the races.

We will have an abbreviated Doghouse on Opening Day, the first that I will miss in quite a while.

Good luck to everyone and have fun!

Belmont Stakes 2007 Results Posted

All three of our horses finished one, two, and three.

We hit the exacta box again although no one will be rich. We'll take it in a seven horse field.

See the results at Belmont Stakes 2007 Post Analysis.

We are now a head away (Curlin over Street Sense in the Preakness) from winning the last six triple crown races. Not bad.

Appearance on Trackfacts Live!

Mr. X appeared on the OTB TV show on April 29 to discuss his method of separating contenders from non-contenders in the Kentucky Derby.

The chart used on the show has now been posted at Meet Mr. X, Kentucky Derby 2007.

A final analysis and betting strategy will be available at the Doghouse Confidential late Friday night or by noon on Saturday, the Holy Day.

Good luck, and may the horse be with you.
